From mating to going home

Litter timeline

Kita was tied to Blue Toad on 12 September 2026. Dates below follow a typical border collie pregnancy and are updated as the litter progresses.

12 Sep 2026

Mating

Kita was tied to Blue Toad.

15 Oct 2026

Ultrasound scan

Kita's scan at around day 33 confirmed she is in whelp. The clip shows one puppy curled up inside its fluid-filled sac.

The dark oval is the fluid-filled sac. The bright, rounded shape inside it is the puppy's head and body.

~Wk 6

Health checked, microchipped, wormed and given their first vaccination ahead of leaving.

From Jan 2027

Puppies go to their new homes

Ready to leave at 8 weeks old, health-checked, wormed, microchipped and vaccinated, with a puppy pack to help them settle in. (Puppies are not KC registered.)

Health-tested lines

The parents

Both Kita and Blue Toad are DNA health tested, and their results are shown in full below โ€” nothing held back.

Dam

Purebred Border Collie ยท KCAR registered ยท Discipline: bikejoring ยท Coat: black & white (non-merle)

Kita comes from Amanda Owen's collie lines โ€” the Yorkshire Shepherdess โ€” bred on the rugged terrain of Ravenseat Farm.

Blue Toad

Stud

Border Collie ยท KC & ISDS registered ยท Discipline: agility ยท Colour: Lilac Tri

A striking Lilac Tri male, Toad is more than just colour โ€” he's a proven working dog with tremendous natural ability, showing strength, balance and feel on his stock. He carries the influence of some of the strongest working lines, with his sire being the legendary Tom, owned by Ross Games.

๐ŸŽจ On coat colour: because Kita does not carry the merle gene, this pairing cannot produce double-merle puppies โ€” a known welfare risk in the breed. Blue Toad also carries roan, so expect a mix of black & white, tri-colour, merle and roan puppies in the litter.

Before you reserve

Practical suggestions for buyers

Border collies are brilliant, biddable dogs โ€” and genuinely demanding ones too. A few honest things to think about before you get in touch.

๐Ÿƒ

Border collies need a proper daily outlet

Like any border collie, these puppies will grow into active, energetic dogs. Plan on a good daily walk or run and some form of regular exercise, not just a stroll round the block.

๐Ÿง

Mental stimulation matters as much as exercise

Collies are bred to think. Training, puzzle feeding and early socialisation classes will keep a sharp mind out of mischief.

๐Ÿก

Secure your garden before pick-up

Collies are agile and will find a gap in a fence. A securely enclosed garden makes the first few months much easier, especially around livestock or traffic.

๐ŸŽ’

What comes with your puppy

Each puppy leaves wormed, vet-checked, microchipped and with their first vaccination, along with some familiar bedding and food to ease the move. Please note: puppies from this litter are not KC registered, though both parents are.
